How to Seek Help and Treatment for Pain Pills Addiction

by artc on December 17, 2010

After you have found the courage and decided that you have a problem with pain pills addiction, your next step is to seek help. How to seek help and treatment for an addiction to pain medication, you ask? I am sure it is more easily said than done.

There are several ways you can do this, and of course all treatments are not the same for each individual and their addiction. Because of this reason it is important that each individual who has an addiction must seek professional help to assist them in figuring out what treatment is going to be right for them to help them overcome painkiller addiction.

A physician may help you wean yourself off of your medication or offer to have you go cold turkey, where you just quit the medication. As you may be able to overcome the addiction at home, it seems for many it is just easier if they are admitted to a rehab center. The reason for this is a lot of people have been taking strong opiate drugs for years and when the quit there will be some serious opiate withdrawal.

Now if you talk to your doctor and he decides that you should taper off of the opiate drug you are addicted to you will not be able to do this alone. I have tried and guess what before a barely got started the pills were gone and I was right back where I started from broke and sick.

With this being said it can work for you if you have a friend or loved one you can trust to dole your medication out to you. They will have to be willing to do this several times a day. Another thing to keep in mind is that you will have to have a plan it place for how you intend to stay clean once you are finished with your opiate withdrawal.

How to get help for painkiller addiction

I would suggest if this is the case for you that you look into getting help  addiction to pain pills by going to and opiate addiction rehab. There they can medically detox you from opiates and this will keep you from being completely miserable during withdraw. During this process you will be well cared for by a staff of trained medical assistants who will administer medications to help you through your opiate detox.

There they may find the support they need and can be weaned from the pain pills under trained personnel supervision. Support is the most important thing for getting over any addiction.

It would be important for family to learn what they can about the pain pill addiction and what they can do to help in the recovery of their family member’s addiction. Even though the addict will show disappointment and anger to their family, it is important for the family to show belief and support in the addict. Overcoming an addiction, of any type, is not an easy chore but an admirable one.

Hi there Tj Ok you say you want help and do not know where to get it well I am going to share with where you can get some excellent help. Well as far as thinking that you can not stop and if you do something bad will happen to you is your disease telling you this BS to keep you using. My suggestion is to quit listening to it and get some help and I will tell you how.

You say you want someone to talk to that has been through it well I have been through it and if you really want help this is what I would suggest that you do. I would suggest that you go to an NA meeting right away there will be many people there who have been right where you are right this moment and they can share with you what they did to get out of it without using. So bottom line is you will have to take action if you do indeed want to get help. If you need any further help write back.

Good luck
