A lot of people get hooked on opiate painkillers or heroin and many of them want to know what there options are for an opiate detox. Well I can think of a few ways of getting through a opioid detox. I think probably the best way is to first of all stop using whatever opiates you are taking. If you are willing to make a commitment to really change your life then I would suggest that you look into going to an opiate addiction treatment.
There you can be detoxed from opiates. This will be done medically. More than likely they will use medications like suboxone to help make you more comfortable. One may suffer a tad from opiate withdrawal until the medication takes effect. Your detox from opiates normally will take around 5 days or even less. I have to suggest that once this is completed that you go to residential treatment. This will help you to learn how to stay clean when you leave rehab. I have stopped using opiates just like this so trust me it works but you will have to take action if you want to recover and start to enjoy life without using drugs.
How to stop using opiates at home
I will be honest with you here, to stop using opiates at home is tough. You will have to face some brutal withdrawal symptoms and will not have any medications to fall back on when the opiate withdrawl starts to kick in and trust me it will. Most people will give up and relapse before they have gone half way through. Now if you insist on quitting opiates at home I would strongly suggest that you find another person to stay with you while you stop using opiates at home. They can try and talk you out of using because you can bet your last dollar before it is over with you will want to use.
I have done this before but I did not have done a home detox before but I failed to have a plan in place for when my detox was over. So if you are going to use this method or any other I would strongly suggest that you put a sound recovery program together and follow it if you do not want to relapse on opiates.
Rapid detox
With this detox the person is put under with anesthesia and all the drugs are removed from your body. It is very expensive and I think that it is very important to make sure that that you are very committed to staying clean no matter what because you would not want to spend thousands of dollars and then relapse. If you do decide to do this you will probably remember nothing when you come too. Another benefit is you will suffer very little from opiate withdrawl. On the negative side it can be dangerous some people have actually died from being under to long. I mean it sounds great. Rapid detox is about the only way I have not used to stop using opiates and I am not looking to try it either.
