You have probably seen it in a loved one or friend, with a alcohol dependance. Alcoholism is a habit that leads to irresponsible behavior as well as poor health but there are many ways that a person can help an alcoholic stop drinking.

The best way to avoid addiction to alcohol is to desist it completely. However, you cannot tell this to the victim and expect instant results. Similarly, the alcoholic has to decide on his or her own about giving up on its use. While this is the reality, sitting back and watching your friend or family ruining their lives is not a solution. You can learn how to help your loved one to overcome alcoholism and change his or her life for the better.

It all starts with loving the person and hating the habit of alcoholism. Nonetheless, you cannot show love by giving the sufferer what they want. This is especially money. When an alcoholic asks for money from you, it means they want to continue fueling the practice. While the money borrowed may not be for buying alcohol, giving money to pay the alcoholic’s bills is an encouragement to continue their alcohol dependency. This is because they can always find a way out to foot the bills even when they get drunk.

How to use AA as a means to help an alcoholic overcome alcohol dependence

The best way to help them is by talking with them and let them know that you happen to be concerned about their drinking is to ask them to seek assistance from professionals in an alcohol addiction treatment center. Further still, you can urge the person to join a support group of alcoholics who are making efforts to quit this will more than likely is going to be AA.

Alcohol treatment and counseling can help you to overcome alcoholism

Treatment and counseling is one of the best means to help an alcoholic with this overwhelming predicament. Hence, you should promise to be there for them as they go through the management process. This can help them admit about the problem. In addition, it can bring them to want guidance on how to quit.

If they are willing to go to an alcohol addiction rehab do not delay because if they start drinking they will more than likely change their mind I know that I did. I was all set to go to alcohol rehab and I had not been drinking and I decided I had to have one more drink before I quit this was a bad move on my part; furthermore what happened is that it was months before I was ready to go to rehab again.

Issuing threats only makes the alcoholic move further into the drinking problem. Consequently, you must avoid these at all costs. Let the person come into terms with the consequences of the drinking habit, this way they can decide to quit on their own. A good example is not bailing the victim out of jail for a drunken misdemeanor.

If you somehow have gotten through to them that they need help I would put them in the car and take them directly to an alcohol rehab because if you do not they are liable to change their mind about going.

Good luck

Oxycodone is a very addicting pain killer and one of the most popular drugs of abuse that contains this medication is oxycontin. There are a lot of people out there who may not realize it, but they are addicted to oxycodone. These people that get addicted usually don’t know how and where to go for help. There are ways to help a person who is addicted to the drug. There are pamphlets that doctors can give to a person that will direct the person on where to get help.

The pamphlets will say all the steps that need to be taken to stop using oxycontin and overcome oxycontin addiction. These are very helpful. One way is going to a rehab facility. There is plenty of rehab facility that is located everywhere. These rehab center offer programs that will help a person to sobriety.
The rehab center usually requires a person to stay fourteen and up to 2 years in long term drug rehab this depends on how heavy of a user ar3. The rehab centers do not force the people to stay.

How to get the best oxycontin treatment to overcome drug addiction

These rehab centers are voluntarily which means it is up to the person if they want to stay to complete the programs. During the stay the person can expect to go to group meetings a few times a day with other addicts. There are a staff of doctors and counselors working around the clock to help you to overcome oxycontin addiction. A person will meet with a counselor daily to discuss their progress and different steps that are needed to help them stop using drugs.

During the stay the person does not have any contact with this drug or any other drugs or alcohol. The person has access to help twenty four seven every day.

Treating people who have a painkiller addiction can be difficult. There are other ways a person can kick the addiction. A person can go see a doctor who specializes in addiction. There are prescriptions that the doctor can write out that will help person stop using.

The prescription doesn’t have to contain anything that is addictive so it’s basically all natural herbs that make up the prescription sort of like a holistic detox.

How to stop using oxycontin cold turkey

A lot of opiate users get hooked by using oxycontin. Keep in mind that it is also possible quit cold turkey. Quitting cold turkey means you just stop using oxycontin with out any help from other sources or drugs. Quitting cold turkey can be the most difficult way to stop using depending on how heavy the user is. The thing is if you make it through it once you never have to go through it again

A much better method to use than quitting cold turkey is to find an alternative drug; for example, most opiate rehabs use suboxone for this and you can get it too from a Doctor that is licensed to dispense it. Now if a person is having the urge to take this drug or any other opioid drug a better option would be to instead of taking it to drink soda or rinse their mouth with mouth wash to calm the craving down. I always recommend that people go for a long walk and hit an NA meeting ASAP.

Once a person is out of the habit of using it is time for the recovery process. The road to recovery is not an easy one at all. There are activities that will help make the recovery process easier. Doctors will tell the users one of the best ways to stay on the road to drug addiction recovery is to exercise.

When people get into a healthier life style it changes a person mind set. People that go to the gym are more active and when a person is active at the gym their mind is focused on just the work outs. I was the type of addict that the only thing I used my mind for was thinking of ways and means to get more drugs.

Even a daily jog is good for people who are in the recovery stages. A jog every day will create new patterns and increase endorphins which are natural opiates; furthermore, this means you will be on a set schedule eventually.

An addict is usually lazy and depends on the drug to get them through the day. The exercising will help them now to get through the day. Making healthy choices will be one of the key factors that will help a person stay clean and sober.

Good luck

Opiate drug rehabs could help you to turn your life around and overcome an addiction to opiates but only if you are willing to put in the necessary effort to change your life on a massive scale.

You see, drug rehab is nothing but a starting point. It is not an answer to addiction and it is not a cure. It does not insure long term success and it does not actually teach you how to live a sober life; however, it can get you detoxed painlessly from opiates medically preventing any serious opiate withdrawal symptoms.

Overcoming vidodin addiction requires massive acction

One of the most abused opiates today would be vicodin. There are people all around the country that a struggling with a vicodin addiction trying to stop using and find a new way to live.

The only way to learn how to live a clean and sober life is to actually do it for yourself and learn as you go along. Other people can help you and make suggestions and tell you what worked for them, but ultimately that information is only going to be a part of what keeps you clean and sober. A big chunk of your path in sobriety has to be the path that you find with your own two feet. It has to be part of your own experience and your own way of working through recovery.

Recovery is a very personal thing. A drug rehab attempts to make it into an objective series of events, a process that you can go through and get predictable results. At our present level of substance abuse treatment, the results are generally pretty lousy and the most likely outcome is relapse. It is rare for someone to leave a drug rehab and stay sober for the next 5 years continuous. In fact, it is pretty rare for someone to even make it to the one year mark when it come to overcoming an opiate addiction. Such an achievement is remarkable.

Why do so many people fail to stay clean and sober? The bottom line is that this is a hard thing to do. True recovery comes from a monumental level of change at the individual level. Essentially the addict has to change everything about themselves, including who they really are. They need a full personality shift and a complete change in priorities. What is important to them in their life must change completely. These are not minor requirements. These are big, massive, life altering changes.

How can someone achieve this level of change that is necessary? It has been my experience the only by taking massive action can one truly overcome a opiate addiction. That is the only way that they can hope to achieve the changes necessary to stay clean and sober. What actions they take are not so important, so long as they are positive and recovery oriented. The rest is all up to their level of enthusiasm and momentum.

You can begin your new life whenever you have had enough of living a life on the verge of death, doom, and destruction whenever you have had enough pain.

Good luck

The most important step in getting alcoholics treatment is for the person to find a good alcohol treatment center or alcoholism program where they can get help to learn how to stop drinking. Alcoholism is a problem that is increasing each day in the United States and hurts many families. There are specialists that work at the treatment centers, who will be able to help the individual treat their problem and learn how to stop drinking.

Alcoholics detox treatment

There are many things that the family of the affected individual will also need to do in order to help support them and help them to recover. Alcoholism is a disease and it is not something that anyone should be humiliated for. Only once the alcoholic accepts their disease is the only time when they can begin to treat it.

The family needs to be supportive of their family member who is affected by alcoholism but you do not want to be so supportive that you are enabling them. Their first step should be getting them to an alcohol detox treatment center, not the last. The reason for this is simple once the alcohol has been removed with a medical alcohol detox the sooner they can face why they were drinking in the first place. Keep in mind that it is vitally important for their success in overcoming their alcohol addiction that the family members continue to visit them on a regular basis.

Their doctors and counselors will want you to be there in order to show the alcohol addict that they have a support system that will be there to help them once they have completed their treatment.

How to help an alcoholic stop drinking

When your family member or friend comes forward about their addiction problem with alcohol, it is important that you do not change the way that you treat them. The best thing you can do to help an alcoholic is you need to show them that you support them, but you cannot argue with them about their problem.

It will only help them if you yourself see their alcoholism as a disease that needs special treatment. Be their friend and support them instead of trying to preach to them about what is right or wrong. Like I said treat them as you would any other person and above all “do not enable them!” This means no loans and not to help them if they get in trouble. Let them figure out how to get their selves out of it they got themselves into it.

If they are willing to admit that they have a drinking problem then help is available until then all you can really do is suggest make suggestions. Something bad may have to happen for them to wake up and want to get help. In that case there drinking will have to run its course but you can stand up for yourself especially if they happen to be living under your roof.

If you need to, ask their counselor for reading materials that you can use to increase your own knowledge about the disease.
Good luck

If you have made the choice to stop drinking then congratulations, and of course now you need to learn how to stay sober. Recovering from being addicted to anything especially alcohol addiction. One needs to keep in mind that this is a long road that starts with a choice. There are going to be many bumps in the road and one of the best ways to help an alcoholic is to find some friends new friends and a support group to help you remain sober.

How to help an alcoholic

How to recover from alcohol addiction without relapsing

You will need to change your habits if you want to recover from drug or alcohol addiction

You need to change your habits. That is the first step and is the best way how to help an alcoholic if you used to drink when you got off of work then you need to find something to fill that time.

It has been my experience that those who attend as many AA meetings as possible during this time tend not to relapse as often as those who half step it. Of course, no one really wants to be in AA or NA 7 days a week but that is exactly what you are going to have to do for a while because the AA basic text tells us that half measures avail us nothing.

So my question would be do you really want to stay clean and sober and learn how to stop drinking then suggestion would be for anyone to anyone who has the desire to overcome alcoholism is to attend 90 meetings in 90 days. This will give you a pretty solid recovery foundation.

When I stopped drinking and using drugs I did the 90 in 90 like my sponsor suggested. I also did another 90 when I completed the other 90 so I do not make it my practice to suggest to others things I have not done for my recovery myself.

You need to exercise. Getting in shape can be addictive as well. There is a big difference though; no one ever suffers from being in too good of shape. Go to your local YMCA or find a cheap gym and join. You will want a couple of friends to go with you. This way if any of you loses motivation the others can make sure you stick to it.
You also will need to establish a few shoulders to cry on this is where other recovering alcoholics come in that you have met in AA. Recovery can be hard.

One thing is sure which is you will inevitably think about some things that you did that may not make you feel so proud. Don’t worry we know it wasn’t you it was the booze. Hearing things like that can really help and of course just being able to vent always helps. With the right friends, program, and exercise you can stay sober.

Now there are those of you that have been drinking for many years and are defiantly going to need to go to alcohol addiction treatment for an alcohol detox. The reason for this is that a person who has drunk liquor for many years is going to experience alcohol withdrawal. Now keep in mind that alcohol withdrawal can be fatal if not treated correctly that’s why you need to go to an alcohol rehab so you can be medically detoxed from alcohol.
Good luck

When it comes to Strategies for Helping Addicts and Alcoholics, there are some steps that can increase a person’s chance of success.

Help Your Friend Or Loved One Acknowledge That He Has a Problem

No one can begin to recover without first acknowledging this problems exists. The sooner he realizes drugs or alcohol is affecting their life, the sooner the path of recovery can begin.

Understand how helping an alcoholic Can Go Too Far

Many people who have alcoholics or addicts in their lives do everything they can to try to help. This can result in the alcoholic or addict not doing what they should do for themselves. As an adult, he or she needs to function as a responsible human being and if this means getting help in an treatment center for there alcohol addiction then so be it.

Do Not Cover For him or her

From bills that need to be paid to driving under the influence, never cover for his or hers mistakes. This will only stand in the way of their progress and delay any thoughts of getting help with their drinking problem.

What usually happens when a person exhausts all the options they had available to them like help getting their bills paid ect because by avoiding their personal responsibilities this allowed them to continue there use of alcohol and once they had to face the music so to speak they could hit their bottom rather fast and force them into seeking help.

How to get help from an alcohol addiction treatment center

Now if you think you may be on the verge of getting trough to them that they do need some help for their addiction if they want to learn how to stop drinking it would not hurt to contact an alcohol addiction treatment center before hand and make some kind of arrangements to get them into rehab soon after they make the decision to do. The ideal thing would to be able to do is that when they reach this decision get them in the car and drive directly to the rehab because they are subject to change their mind at any given point.

Once they are in rehab they will be in the hands of staff members who have been trained how to help alcoholics and addicts to get through drug or alcohol withdrawal.

Remember That You Are a Person, Too

Individuals with alcohol or drug problems can be inconsiderate, and sometimes even abusive. Learn how to place limits and boundaries on the behaviors that are acceptable and unacceptable. Never allow the person to abuse you, or accept excuses for abusive behavior.

Love Can Be Positive

Unconditional love from family and friends can help persons with substance-dependency issues begin recovery and continue making progress.

Key Takeaways

1) An important step in helping someone who wishes to recover is helping him to be responsible for himself.

2) For recovery to be possible, he must be able to admit he has a problem.

3) Show your love and genuine concern to the recovering addict or alcoholic in your life. However, this does not mean letting him abuse or take advantage of you in any way. He cannot benefit from treating you poorly, but will benefit very much from your concern and love.

66 How to Tips that help people quit drinking and overcome their addiction to alcohol

Overcoming an addiction to alcohol can be a very difficult thing to do. Millions of people all across the world struggle with alcoholism.

Tips on how to overcome alcoholism without relapsing

The first tip is to admit that there is a problem and come up with a strategy to get help. This strategy can include going to rehab, going to alcoholics anonymous meetings, having a detox in an outpatient facility, or asking a doctor to help with an at home detox program.

The second tip is to set realistic goals for yourself. Many people think that they can just quit drinking cold turkey, but this is never the best way to deal with alcoholism. Start by trying to set a goal of going one week without a drink of alcohol. Pick a day on the calendar and commit to becoming sober on that day; do not make excuses and take the start date very seriously.

The third tip is to find something that will keep your mind off of the strong urge to drink alcohol. The brain is the organ in the body that controls our addictions and impulses so it needs to be re-trained to overcome the problem. Some great ways to help the mind improve include: exercise, yoga, and painting, crafting, and making model cars.

The fourth tip is to seek help from a mental health professional. It is important for people with the addiction to know why they crave alcohol so that they can avoid any situations that will make them turn back to using it.

The fifth tip is to ask loved ones, co-workers, and close friends to help you deal with your struggle. Make sure that people that you are around know that you are struggling with alcoholism and that you would prefer that they not drink in front of you. Most people will more than likely understand and will want to how to help an alcoholic in their effort to stop drinking and overcome alcoholism.

The sixth tip is to get help from others in the same situation. Join an online alcoholic’s support group, meet with people who are struggling with addiction, and take to them about their experiences. It can help to have people to lean on who have gone through the same struggles and can offer insight on how to stay sober.

Overcoming addiction is hard and so people need to be willing to put in the time to earn their sobriety. No one is ever cured of alcoholism, but every day that a person is sober they become less likely to stumble back into the black hole of addiction.

Definition Alcoholism: What is it?

Before you can understand, what Alcoholism is you need to know what the definition is. Alcoholism definition is the craving for alcohol that may not be in the control of the person with the dependency. Having a dependency on alcohol is not only cravings it but alcohol abuse is also a disease of the body.
Alcoholism does not just affect the person who has a dependency on alcohol it also affects everyone that loves the person with the dependency. When a person drinks alcohol, it may change them in some instances. Meaning they are one way one minute and then after a few drinks they become a completely different person, they may even become extremely violent.

Causes of alcoholism

The causes of alcoholism are popular topics of study among researchers. Alcohol addiction is the physical dependence on alcohol which happens as a result of an imbalance of chemicals, namely gamma-aminobutyric acid, in the brain.
There are less scientific, more controversial causes as well. Genetic chemical imbalances may predispose a person to becoming an alcoholic. Emotional distress and subsequent stress hormones may increase a person’s likelihood of becoming alcohol dependent. Consumption of alcohol might also be a coping mechanism for stress that is unrelated to, but results in a physical dependence. Other causes include peer pressure, low self-esteem, and depression.

Alcoholism Statistics

Alcoholism statistics illustrate the dark realities of the disease. Alcohol dependence costs the US more money than the cost of combating cancer or obesity. Nearly half of adults have a former or present alcoholic in their immediate family. Studies show that alcoholic parents are more likely to have children who grow up to become alcoholics as well – seemingly a combination of nurture and nature. Alcohol is responsible for the top four causes of death among teens: car accidents, homicide, suicide, and drowning. People addicted to alcohol are twice as likely to divorce as those not suffering from the addiction.

Alcoholism Symptoms

Alcoholism symptoms come in two main categories: physical and emotional/social. Physically, an addiction to alcohol can lead to abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, numbness, and shakes in the morning. However, the more obvious symptoms of alcoholism are usually emotional and social. Emotionally, the addict becomes dependent on the drug, leading to increased anxiety and tension, decreased inhibitions, and confusion. The alcoholic also suffers socially. He or she may need the drug to function throughout the day, may hide his or her use of it, and may suffer professionally. Many alcoholics get depressed while drinking, while others become violent. Every addict will react differently to alcohol, however, so the warning signs will vary.

Effects of alcohol

The effects of alcoholism can be felt far and wide within a family, among friends, or even throughout an entire community. Drinking can also cause a person to lose everything they have or have ever worked for it doesn’t take much. When a person decides they’re going to drink lives could be lost even from that one small drink they don’t think is going to “hurt anybody at all.” So the next time you pick up a bottle, just remember what you have to lose and how many people are counting on you not to drink. Call a friend instead.

Alcohol addiction

Alcohol addiction is something that can happen to anyone who consumes alcohol in excess. The binge drinker is most likely to form a addiction to alcohol within the early stages of their drinking career. The fact that it is a addiction makes it impossible for a person to stop drinking once they start. For the person suffering from a addiction to alcohol one drink is too many and a thousand never enough, therefore it is wise that they never pick up that first drink once the stages of addiction has began. Although there is no known cure for this addiction there are treatment options.

Alcoholism Facts

There are some alcoholism facts that people who have loved ones battling this addiction should be aware of. Alcoholism is in fact a disease. It is similar to cancer in the perspective that there is no absolute cure however there are ways to treat it and to live a productive life and stay clean and sober. There are inpatient as well as outpatient treatments available for those suffering from alcoholism. Alcoholism does not discriminate against who becomes a addict. There are many white collar professionals as well as housewives who suffer from this disease. Although there is no known cure at this time, help is available.

Alcohol Abuse and alcohol poisoning by College Students

Each year, alcohol abuse contributes to the deaths of over sixty college students. Over 150 more die each year as the result of vehicle accidents where at least one of the drivers was under the influence.

Drinking games can lead to extreme health risks such as alcohol poisoning and paralysis, while binge drinking can lead to severe dehydration and liver failure.

For many young people, the allure of alcohol at parties offers a chance to relax and unwind, but for too many it opens the door to future alcoholism or drug abuse. Think ahead, before you take the first drink.

Diving into the fray, 65 wake up signs of alcoholism

Recovery from drug and alcohol addiction can be a long, yet rewarding journey, which may require many outlets such as addiction poems. It is imperative that the addict is able to have an outlet to release the emotions felt inside. Many have found peace through both reading and writing poetry. In fact using poetry as a tool has help to release the frustration, anger and pain that addiction so often is intertwined with.

Many people have found that the road to recovery can be filled with many uncontrollable emotions that can become disastrous if left buried within themselves. Often people are facing things that are out of their control or simply too painful to verbalize, forcing them to keep their thoughts and feelings inside. Writing can be a tremendous help when someone has to face their pain and secrets. Writing is an invaluable source of expression it can come in any form.

The NA basic text can help those who really want to recover from drug addiction

Some people prefer to read the works of others over writing if this is the case I would suggest that you start with the NA basic text and next check out the NA step writing guide. For who that are scared they can gain strength from a simply outlining the battle of others that others have taken until they have a sponsor to help them go through the steps.

After reading the thoughts of someone else fighting addiction, they may feel less alone, they may find that what they have read gives them the courage to continue forward, to deal with there own demons, to prevail in the ultimate fight for their lives overcoming drug addiction.

Loved ones need to understand the disease of addiction

Writing based on addiction can also help those who may not be addicted, though they know someone close who is. It may help them to better understand the struggles and the disease of addiction that their loved ones are facing. They could gain hope in reading about the triumphs and strengths of others in a similar path. By better understanding of what the addict is facing people are able to provide a better support system, vital to anyone in recovery.

For those who are facing recovery, success is vital. The road they stand on today will at times seem all up hill. The largest downfall on the road to recovery is bottling emotions inside, which in many ways contributed to the original addiction behavior. These emotions must be released, and if they are too difficult to be spoken at this time, they must be released by other means until they are ready to share their story.

A simple collection of words can break the wall of pain and may be all you need to help you to stay clean and sober. With each thought or feeling placed on paper one brick disintegrates. The angry become softened, the fearful become strong, the doubtful become confident and all become whole. The power of writing is remarkable. It removes the deepest uncontrollable emotions and breaks the chains that bound each person, freeing everyone, giving to confidence, happiness, solitude, peace and bliss.

The great thing about writing is that it can be done at anytime and at any place. A person only needs some paper and a pen or pencil and they have an indispensable healing tool. At three in the morning, when people may think they have no options to deal with what is tearing them up inside, they can still write.

Writing has no rules and no limits, writing is as simple or complex as the writer chooses. Writing brings peace one word at a time, one thought at a time. Writing can be therapeutic, which can lead to inner knowledge, understanding and forgiveness. Writing could be an essential tool along the road of recovery. Through writing each person will one day feel free and empowered.

Many recovering addicts claim that the hardest part of cannabis addiction treatment is the first few weeks, and there is absolute truth in this statement. Before exploring the subject, however, it is important for us to first understand what we are talking about. Cannabis, popularly known in different parts of the world either as ganja, weed or marijuana, is a drug derived from the leaves of the hemp plant Cannabis Sativa.

Throughout history, there have been many different purposes for which this plant has been used, varying from medicinal to religious purposes. In the recent past, however, the drug has been used more and more for recreational use, which has led to an increased number of people getting addicted to it.

Studies have shown that the addiction to cannabis is not as difficult to break out of as the addiction to alcohol or nicotine (found in cigarettes.) The treatment process of this addiction follows a general series of steps quite similar to the steps taken to treat most other drug addictions. All these steps are more behavioral than medical, since there is no direct medical treatment plan for cannabis addiction.

How to quit smoking weed and recover from an addiction to marijuana

How to overcome a weed addiction use a drug detox cleanse

The first step, and usually the most important, is realization and admission by patients that they are addicted to the drug and that they need to seek medical to stop smoking weed for this you may need is professional help. This usually consists of going to rehab for weed addiction because there they can flush your system with a marijuana detox cleanse.

The next step is for them to seek professional help. Asking a family member to assist in finding help is usually a bold step that many recovering addicts say has helped them most, since it helps them feel loved and cared for. Most professionals use different types of behavioral treatments to treat the addiction, the most common being motivational enhancement therapy.

Addiction therapy can help you stop smoking marijuana

Motivational enhancement addiction therapy is a treatment method that uses motivational phase-based therapy sessions that helps patients explore and change their behavior to correct an addiction they have and this is a great way to stop smoking marijuana. When treating cannabis patients, the first phase involves building a patient’s motivation to change this may start with a holistic detox cleanse.

Treatment begins with simple positive statements that patients make to the effect that they need to and have to change. The therapist listens with empathy, questions the patient and then gives them some sort of feedback based on their assessment.

It is important for the patient to listen to this assessment so that they understand how serious (or not) their addiction is and what they need to do to correct the situation. In this entire process, the therapist makes sure the patient remains reaffirmed and reassured that it does not matter how serious their addiction is, they can fight and beat it. As expected, many patients resist recommendations given to them by therapists, giving excuses why they should or should not do one recommendation or another.

Therapists must continue to stress the importance of the treatment, reaffirming and reassuring the patients. They also try to help reframe how the patients look at themselves, changing their perception of themselves.

The second phase involves strengthening the patients’ commitment to change. The therapist asks key questions, discusses the treatment plan over and over again with the patient and reaffirms the fact that the patients have a right to free choice. The patient has the right to choose what to do or not to do. The only thing the therapist has to highlight is the possible consequences the course of action the patient takes may have. A lot of advice is important for patients, since they trust the therapist to prod them in the right direction.

The last phase usually involves follow-up strategies that therapists use to make the changes a patient has made permanent. If this treatment plan, as well as others that exist is followed correctly, they can successfully fight addiction to cannabis.

Good luck

If you need to get off of drugs and alcohol then you might consider going to alcohol treatment to beat an alcohol addiction. There you can get a clean break and get started on a new life in recovery. The process usually starts with detox and actually getting physically clean from all the chemicals. Then they will generally put you into some therapy groups and lectures and meetings.

Tips to get clean and sober

This is how I got clean and sober and you can too. The first thing I did was realize that I could not continue drinking the way I was or I would not be long in this world so I went to a 14 day rehab.

Long term drug treatment may save your life

I actually went out of town to go to drug rehab and I was close to finishing my stay at the treatment facility; furthermore, I was scared to death to return to my home town for fear of using again.

Well there happened to be a long term drug treatment house in the same building so I signed up to go and the day I was to finish my residential treatment I got accepted. I stayed in this rehab 2 years and went back to school. I believe that it was God who got me in there and it changed my whole life for the better.

A typical path in early recovery is to emphasize social networking as a solution for recovery. This is most easily done through 12 step programs that are designed to have meetings every single day. If you attend daily meetings then you slowly build up a social network that can help you to stay clean and sober. We need help and support to recover and you can get that most easily in a 12 step program.

The 12 steps of alcoholics anonymous can help you stop drinking and get through an addiction to alcohol

Some people do not like 12 step programs such as AA and they can still get help and support in recovery, but it will be more difficult to come by. But it is possible and you can still quit drinking recover and beat alcohol addiction without these programs. It is just going to be a lot harder.

How to help an alcoholic

Drug rehabs push this as a solution of how to help an alcoholic because it actually helps a great deal in early recovery. Long term sobriety is another story entirely and if you look at the internal statistics among recovery programs you will see that most people do not stay clean and sober for long periods of time. The rate of drop off or the rate of relapse remains fairly high and so you have to wonder what the secret is to achieving this long term sobriety.

The secret is in the creative life of recovery and some people naturally live this creative life without really realizing it. We would look at such people and classify them as “winners” in recovery, because they are living with passion and purpose and they are reaching out and constantly helping others in their life.

This is all part of the creative life and if you want to achieve long term sobriety then you need to move beyond social networking as you solution and start creating the life you really want to live. If you can design this new life around helping others then you will have a very powerful formula for staying sober.

The secret is in boosting your self esteem and taking positive action every day, such that relapse always remains a poor option for you. If you have a lot to live for then you will not throw it away on a relapse. You have to build this “lot to live for” stuff up in your life and that comes from finding purpose and meaning in helping others.

Good luck
