CHRISTIAN ALCOHOL TREATMENT CAN HELP you LEARN TO STOP DRINKING and RECOVER FROM ALCOHOLISM

by artc on November 23, 2010

Christian Alcohol Treatment programs have a long history. In fact, some of the earliest forms of substance abuse treatments started with the church. These programs have come along way since their humble beginnings and now there are many forms such as the Salvation Army, the YMCA and perhaps best known Alcoholics Anonymous or AA.

Many churches can direct a person especially women that can not afford to go to conventional drug rehab to such places as the YMCA where they can get help in a free drug rehab. This is great because there are a lot of women out there that suffer from drug addiction and alcoholism that want help.

AA programs are not always Christian. Anyone familiar with the 12-step program knows that it does use a frame work which sites a higher-power, but many meetings and chapters are more vague about that being. In point of fact, Christianity is not a requirement for participation in an AA program.

If thinking about quitting drinking and you are considering treatment for alcohol addition, and want to try AA methods, visit several meetings. Many meetings are open, meaning new members can join, and each group has its own attributes. Some groups are smoking, some are non-smoking, some are specifically Christian and other AA groups are not.

If you do choose AA as the basis for your recovery foundation I would suggest that you get serious about your recovery from drinking alcohol your life may depend on it. I would suggest that you begin by committing yourself to attending a meeting a day for no less than 90 days and along the way get a sponsor.

While you are attending meetings get as many phone numbers as you can because you never know when the desire to drink will start to overtake you. If you have phone numbers you can call another recovering alcoholic and tell them what’s going on. This may make the difference whether you relapse or stay clean and sober.

How to help an alcoholic overcome alcoholism and recover

If you are in a smaller community and you don’t want to go to an AA group because you don’t like one of the features (smoking, religion, or something else) consider an online group. Online groups have proven to be a great way how to help an alcoholic because they allow you to connect to others who are struggling with sobriety and still maintain your privacy.

There are many ways to seek help and treatment for alcohol addition. If your first attempt to seek treatment doesn’t work, try again. Try until it works. There is a method for everyone, but no one method is the right method for each person.

If you don’t know how to locate an alcohol rehab in your area all you have to do is look on line and you will find all kinds of alcoholism treatment help. Why not get some alcoholism help to day and stop drinking.

Good luck
