Want to get that Mouse off your back try Alternative Maintenance Meds for Opiate Addiction

There is a relatively new maintenance medication for opiate addiction. With the advent of suboxone  and subutex a medical detox is now available in your own home without going to the local drug addiction clinic.

Suboxone home detox

A  prescription for the drug is provided for the patient to take at home. The prescription is a good thing for suboxone has Naltrexone which is an opiate blocker so if you do happen to use while on suboxone you will not feel it.

Suboxone to overcome methadone and heroin addiction

Another thing it could be used for is methadone addiction.

There is another way to kick heroin and that is methadone but in my opinion you will only end up with a methadone addiction.

I have used methadone to kick heroin and I was stuck on the clinic for around 4 or 5 years and got one hell of an addiction for my efforts.

Either of these methods could save your life but you must take action because a little bird is not going to fly by and drop a dose of drug addiction recovery on you.

I have very few friends left the disease has killed them one by one. Matter of fact I lost one of my best using buddies last month. He was like 50 and let me tell you this is quite a feat for a heroin addict to live that long.

So please make a decision today and live a long and prosperous life. Go to NA meetings and perhaps try addiction treatment.

Overcoming Opiate Addiction

Recovering from opiate addiction is never an easy thing. However, there are effective options one can try and if he or she is committed to recovering, a successful one can be found. Attending a narcotics anonymous support group is the first place numerous individuals like to start.

At such meetings one can be introduced to those who have been through opiate withdrawal and recovered and such people are usually ready and willing to help others with their struggle. Anyone is welcome to attend these meetings and no one is required to speak unless they want to, but can simply listen to others discuss their struggles and successes.

The best part of such meetings is that one can talk to and listen to those who are going through similar difficulties, which results in a person not feeling quite so alone. Opiate addiction can definitely seem like an impossible situation from which to recover; however, recovery is possible for anyone who is truly determined.

Getting through opiate withdrawal

It is essential not to take on too much when first withdrawing from opiates. Taking things one step at a time is a much better plan. It is uncommon to recover from opiate addiction all at once, therefore, one must not become discourages if he or she suffers a relapse or two going through opiate withdrawal again will deter a few people.

The important thing is to just keep trying. An addiction counselor can help one a great deal, especially if the person suffering from the addiction has been a heavy user for many years. Opiate withdrawal can cause physical symptoms due to the fact that over time, one’s body becomes dependent on the drug.

Depending on a person’s individual circumstances, it may be advisable to wean off the substance slowly. In other cases, cold turkey is the only avenue through which freedom from the drug can be obtained. An addiction counselor will be able to help an individual to determine his or her best course of action.

Sometimes methadone is given for a short duration to those struggling with addiction in order to lessen withdrawal symptoms, but one must still face the daily struggles and challenges of opiate addiction recovery.

Those attending NA meetings may wish to ask for a referral to a good drug and alcohol counselor. Once the physical withdrawal symptoms subside, the process will become much easier and one will find that he or she is well on the way to recovery.

Seeing an addictions therapist can you really help you if you are willing to be honest and share about all of the stuff that kept you using opiate drugs. I went to drug addiction therapy for 2 years and I shared every thing about myself that including the people that I hurt the most in my addiction it was freedom like you never experienced before.

Good luck
