Alcohol poisoning effects thousands of people a year and most cases are found to be young people and college students. The younger generation loves to party and often in excess. Many take bets to try and out-drink their friends or win the respect of others. Binge drinking is a very serious problem and can lead to a life of alcoholism, permanent brain and liver damage and a lot of cases even death.
Often college students will have a big party and they will do some crazy things like get a funnel and put it in someones mouth while someone pours beer or liquor into it. This is very dangerous and a great way to overdose on alcohol.
Poisoning from alcohol occurs when a person drinks more alcohol than the liver can process. The alcohol has nowhere to be absorbed except the other organs of the body. Alcohol inhibits motor skills and natural functions of the central nervous system, like breathing and vomiting. When someone is poisoned by alcohol, these functions many times cease, leading to asphyxiation of vomit, eventually causing death.
If you suspect someone is suffering from poisoning due to alcohol, call 911 immediately and roll the person on their right side with one arm above their head. Monitor their breathing and pulse. Many people with this debilitating poisoning will experience hypothermia so be sure to have a blanket on them as well to prevent shock while you wait for emergency services to arrive.
Stop binge drinking
If you know someone who binge drinks, warn them about the dangers of binge drinking and alcohol overdose. It could very well save their lives. If they won’t listen to you keep telling them. Tell a loved one that cares about them and may have more of an influence. Some times people are not ready to admit they have a problem. Make sure you remind them that there are people out there that love them and many places available for help and counseling and addiction therapy alcohol addictions and recovery.
Addiction therapy helps overcome alcoholism
I like to recommend addiction therapy to many people because it helped me to turn my life around from being a “hopeless dope fiend to a grateful recovering hope fiend.”
The key is to find a drug addiction therapist that you feel that you can trust you should be able to tell this after a few visits. It is extremely important if your really want to recover from drug addiction because you will be want to share with them stuff on a much deeper level than we do in meetings and this requires trust.
I like to suggest to people to share something mildly embarising with your counselor and see if they react if they do not next time share something about yourself that you have never told another person the feeling of freedom you will get from this is truly indescrible. Keep doing this until you have no more secrets left. This is the best way I know of to recover from active addiction.
Good luck
