Many young adults in their early and mid twenties are very social and are pretty much conditioned for alcohol misuse. Many young adults get intoxicated with the power of their new found freedom alone, but forget the responsibility that comes with that freedom.
College students are well known for alcohol misuse
Colleges students are always having some kind of party going on it seems like and when they get together there is a whole lot of alcohol abuse going on. They often make a game of it like seeing who can chug the most beers or have someone pouring it in a funnel.
Most of their time is spent hanging out with their friends and spending all night out at the clubs and bars.
The end of a busy work night often leads to texts inviting the crew out downtown and big birthday bashes lead to drinking fests where drinking way to much alcohol is common. What started out to be a fun night turns into a friend in the emergency room getting their stomach pumped or the tragic loss of a friend in a drunken driving accident.
Binge drinking is a red light indicator of misusing alcohol
These things often lead to more binge drinking to numb their pain. What young people sometimes do not understand is that often, this binge drinking can lead to alcoholism which can affect the rest of their lives. If this sounds familiar it may be a good idea to nip it in the bud right now before you get beyond the point of no return.
Often as teens many already started consuming alcohol at high school parties and some at home under no supervision, due to parents having to work more than one job to support the family. This is a shame but it is a true fact of life.
Stop drinking and misusing alcohol and overcome alcoholism
It has been my experience as a recovering drug addict to see that more times than less this misuse and abuse of alcohol turns into a lifetime of alcoholism as well. Many without anyone to turn to for help or the knowledge of where to go for help, stay under the cloud of alcoholism and continue to abuse and misuse alcohol. What they do not know is that they are not alone and help is right around the corner.
If you or a friend is suffering with an alcohol addiction please call your local branch of Alcoholics Anonymous, LEAF chapter or religious clergyman for information on where to go for help. There are also many websites on the internet with information on alcohol addiction treatment and all your information is kept confidential.
Let me just add one more thing here when you find out where the AA meetings are take action and go to one and you may be surprised to find many other people there just like you who are trying to stop drinking and overcome alcoholism.
I would discontinue this practice immediately before you become a statistic of alcohol overdose and death.
Good luck
