Addicted to heroin

by artc on August 30, 2009

I see all the time in the news that people who are addicted to heroin is growing in popularity among our youth ages 12 to 17. Studies show that they are sniffing or snorting the heroin rather than injecting. This news is rather alarming because their minds are probably not fully developed and they are very vulnerable to becoming a heroin addict.

I am pretty sure that they learned about heroin from their older peers or for that matter an adult could be guilty of luring them in. The allure of fast money and nice cars that the young dealers have is very tempting to some but it comes at a price. The price could be jail or death of a heroin overdose plus there is always the danger of heroin addiction.

Heroin addiction

It does not really matter how one acquires their drug addiction all that matters is that you want to stop using  heroin and get help. In today’s world there is help practically everywhere all one has to do is ask. Sometimes asking for help is the hardest thing to do and believe it or not it is actually the first step to getting free from addiction.

How to overcome addiction in heroin rehab

If you or a loved one are having problems with heroin abuse and have a heroin habit then I would suggest that you look into going toheroin treatment. Look for a heroin rehab in your vicinity and give them a call and ask them about heroin detox and residential treatment. Once you find out the scoop on that make an appointment to go in for treatment.

If you decided you want to go to heroin rehab it would be a great choice because there they will give you drugs that will help with your heroin withdrawal. This should take no more than 3 to 5 days depending on how much and how often you were using. When you finish this you will go to residential treatment and you will be there around 14 days.

There you will learn how to remain clean once you leave heroin rehab you will have to see to your heroin addiction recovery just like the rest of the addicts who want to overcome heroin.

Heroin addiction is a problem affecting many individuals.  The addiction to heroin is a problem in which these individuals have a difficult time overcoming.  The problem crosses geographical as well as cultural lines.  Addiction can quickly take over and cause both psychological as well as physical effects.

This type of drug addiction occurs in countries around the world and affects the homeless as well as the Rock Star.  Addicts may be wealthy or broke.  The use of this drug continues to spread and grows.

Initially, there may be many different reasons that persons try heroin.  It could be uses as a replacement for a prescription that is no longer affordable.  Others may be self medicating for depression or another reason.  Some also use the substance as a recreational drug.

No matter what the reason the drug is used initially, the user quickly feels its addictive effects.  Only a few uses may lead to addiction.  Once the person has become addicted, it is no longer a matter of simply stopping use.  The drug begins to take over their lives.

For the addict, giving up heroin is a difficult proposition.  The addictive ability is very potent.  Without good professional help, the addict is unlikely to give up the drug.  Withdrawal can be both mentally and physically painful.  In some extreme cases death has resulted.  To stop the use requires a program that is very specialized and at times the best of programs do not work.

Persons dependent on heroin face a condition that is debilitating.  Not only is it difficult to give up this drug, but it can do substantial damage to the persons who use it.

Persons who are addicted to the drug lose all sense of care for loved ones and only want to feed the addiction.  In the end, they may lose families, jobs and everything else that once mattered in their life.  As time passes, the drug will replace everything in their lives.

Good luck

I feel a bit lost of asking that but the problem is that there is a girl age 19 years old that have been introduce to Heroine 8 month back by an ex boyfriend of her. Me being her big brither have bring her to a rehab where she has been on Codein detox then am sure she have try it once or twice again after her detox. But for the moment i have move her very far away from this country, that will make 2 month she didn’t touch Heroine. The question is : is her mental addiction still here or has gone?

Hi there thanks for sharing with us

I will try answer this for you without out explaining the whole deal because you probably would not really understand it anyway if you are not an addict.

To put it simply addiction does not simply go away; however, when a person stops using the disease is arrested and then recovery is possible.

Now keep in mind that if the person uses drugs again they will pick up where they left off when they stopped using drugs and a lot of times it will be worse than when you quit.

Bottom line is addiction does not just go away. Hope this helps.

Good luck
