Hi Nicholas

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do but encourage her. One I thing I can tell you though is even if she went to some sort of rehab she will still have to attend NA meetings.

If she goes to the meetings the other girls will give her their phone numbers to call when ever she thinks about using or starts getting urges and they will tell her what to do. I would suggest that she do go to a meeting and ask for numbers ASAP.

Good luck

I am with a girl that just went through a NA program and has been clean for a bout 6 months, but I'm afraid that i can't help her stay clean. She has talked to me about the urge to use again which scares me. I've never used and would help her anyways I can. Do you have anything I could do to make the urge go away? Even if I can't be with her all the time.

Thank you for your comment Adam and I am glad that you liked my tips. I think being more open to the importance that God plays in addiction therapy and in general is a big step. Just remember things happen over time that's how we learn not necessarily overnight.

While I've always felt a bit troubled by the importance that "God" plays in addiction therapy, I'm becoming more open to the idea (not only in drug addiction therapy, but in general). But, even ignoring the higher power stuff, I think this is a great list of tips. I've seen people recover greatly due to following many of the tips you've written about. I'll be sure to show this to anyone I know who needs the help.
