While successful for many, AA and other 12 step programs may not work for everyone. There are some simple techniques that can be successful for anyone wishing to stop drinking.
Exercise Research proves that even a simple fitness plan can increase the chance of recovering from an addiction. Exercise causes the brain to release endorphins, naturally improving mood. No need to spend high premiums at a gym, exercise can be free, and a simple as talking a walk.
Overcome alcohol addiction naturally
Help the body to detoxify naturally. Epsom salt baths are a cheap and easy way to relax and aid the body’s detox pathways. Magnesium is proven to be a calming mineral, often as effective as anti-anxiety medication.
Alcohol detox naturally
Many people use Epsom salt because the sulfur in Epsom salt causes sweating, aiding the ability to detoxify. Warm water with the juice of half a lemon has been shown to help move toxins from the body. Honey can be added to help improve the taste. Try activated charcoal, it may reduce cravings and lessen the intensity of withdraw symptoms.
Use some simple psychology. It can be very effective to think “Stop!” anytime that that alcohol is thought of. Over time, using this technique will provide results. One other method is pinch your fingers together while saying “I am strong, I can do this” with enough repetition, simply pinching fingers together will trigger the brain to remember the resolution.
Supplement thiamine. Also known as vitamin B1, this supplement is crucial for the body to provide energy for the brain.
Using the 12 step program of alcoholics anonymous can help you stop drinking
I have seen many people recover from alcoholism and drug addiction during my many years of going to the programs of AA and NA they both work well to beat drugs or alcohol. The catch is that you just can’t sit at home in front of the TV you have to take massive action to quit drinking and be able to follow directions or you may as well hang it up now because if you refuse to heed the word you will relapse no two ways about it.
There are several good things about becoming a member of a 12 step program one of them is that are free and both programs can be found in many countries around the world. Another thing is that you will make some real honest to goodness friend I have great friends in both fellowships. This group or friends are not like the so called friends that I had when I was using because they will go that extra mile to help you out and the old friends would be lucky to walk across the street to give me hand.
There is hope for anyone wishing to treat alcoholism without AA or 12 step meetings. All programs require dedication and strength. Properly caring for the mind and body will increase success.
If you choose a 12 step program like AA I would suggest that you make a list of all the meetings you plan on attending find out where they meet and at what time. I would also suggest that you attend 90 meetings in 90 days. I did this as one of my recovery goals and when I completed this goal I did another 90. I think you should also get a sponsor at this time too.
Good luck
